Well here is the first weekend of the Christine Barn Find build, more like a prep weekend really with looking at the contents of the kit I'm working with and seeing what modifying might be needed... and there will be a lot of them 😕
The first problem I can see is the fact that this kit has both doors and the trunk molded shut and I'll need to modify the drivers side door and the trunk to become open and that would mean building a new insert for the trunk 😕
The other problem is with the body, bearing in mind that the kit is very good for a straight forward, out of the box build, but because this build will be the Barn Find version of the car, the side trim is molded with the body and will need part sanding down and rebuilding to make it look like it's hanging off, also the words Belvedere is written on the rear fins and they will also need sand off 😉
The final issue I'm coming across at the moment is the front grill, which again is all molded as one part and will most likely need rebuilding, so it can look broken, and that's from just opening the box 😕
Looks like a hell of a start before even really starting the build, but I do love a challenge and the pay off will be fantastic👍
As for the kit itself, for an AMT kit the flashing looks very minimal and is very well detailed, which is great for this project👍
